"Getting a form signed"

About: GPs in the Gippsland Electoral District

(as the patient),

I have now been to 5 separate medical clinics just trying to get a form signed for work, for 2 months, and now they are forcing me back to work in the office when I am work from home for legit medical reasons.

I was born with a congenital birth defect which causes some pain and discomfort, among other issues, that have in the last few years forced me to request and receive a work from home arrangement from my work, and in late September they gave me a form I had to get signed by a doctor or specialist to continue the arrangement, no big deal I thought.

I used to use a particular general practice [general practice 1] when I moved here, but lately their appointments just dried up and I can't book a doctor less than 2-3 weeks ahead, so I decided to go to a new doctor and chose another local general practice [general practice 2], only after I went there did I find out they are actually taking over general practice 1 and this is apparently why there are no appointments there.

I asked for a referral to a specialist I have already seen to get the form signed, got told it would be about a week until they contacted me, 2 weeks later with no contact I called them myself and was told that yes, they got the request but for "non urgent" appointments it will be some time into next year before I can see the specialist. My work told me at that point a GP can sign the form, so I booked a new appointment at general practice 2, only to be told I had to get medical records moved from general practice 1 before they would sign the form.

I signed the paperwork I was told to sign and waited to hand it in, patiently, while I recall the receptionist had a conversation with the person at the counter about a recent surgery they had, loudly with pictures being shown etc, for 15 whole minutes while I stood patiently and waited to hand in my paperwork. Once I got there, no acknowledgement of the apparent rudeness of waiting while the receptionist had a private conversation while on the clock and they took the form with what I felt was a scowl and said it would probably take until the end of the week.

I waited 2 more weeks with nothing, called them and asked if I could book an appointment, was told by the receptionist, seemingly without checking anything, that that would have been done on the day you handed in the form and then they basically hung up in my ear after I said I would book a new appointment ASAP then.

Booked that very day, went in, no records. Doctor called reception and I felt they were even rude to them when telling the doctor oh (name) went overseas and that won't have been done yet, and then they promptly hung up in the doctor's ear as well.

I left and gave the clinic a 1 star google review as soon as I got home, mainly for the receptionist they have there.

I then went to a GP in another suburb [general practice 3], as every other doctor in my suburb either had appointments over 2 weeks away, or were just "not accepting new patients" when I tried to get an appointment there.

They also gave me the form to sign, and happy to report the staff there seem much better than anyone in the first two general practices has been so far, but...

I then called back a few days later to see if records were there, only to be told that I actually had to contact general practice 1 again myself, pay them $33 to transfer records and then get back to them. This is the first time in 2 months that I have been told this fact.

I took $50 cash to general practice 1, was told they didn't have any change and I had to go back to the supermarket and break the $50 to make change, as by now we are days from xmas due to this farce, work is making me go back to the office at the end of the week and I was starting to get desperate to get this form signed. I went back with exactly $33 in cash and was told it would be sent straight away because you just paid for it, thanked them and left.

I called the following day to see if records were transferred, they had not arrived, called general practice 1 and they re-sent the records, called general practice 3 back.

Was told that oh I'm sorry, these records are in XML format and the only person who works here who can upload those is on holidays till next year, you would have to go back to general practice 1 and get printed records to bring with you.

O......K..... I feel this is starting to become a joke.

So I believe I am now completely out of options and I feel I am being forced back into the office when I am not fit to go back to the office starting from next week.

Merry Christmas everyone, I am not having one, at all. This has been going on since at least mid to late October with roadblock after ridiculous road block that keeps coming up suddenly and then I feel makes no difference anyway.
