"Hospital Parking - Not Again!"

About: Geraldton Hospital

(as a service user),

It seems to me that the parking at Geraldton Hospital has not been prepared for with whatever works are going on. I have noticed that by the time it gets to 9am, there are no parks available and I feel sorry for the poor staff who I believe have to drive around on the daily when there are so many parks blocked off by traffic cones. This is only the first week into the New Year - I think its only going to get busier.

I drove around for 35 minutes and ended up being late for my appointment before I could find a park - and only because someone was leaving.

Shouldn't you plan for parking first, temporary or permanent, before you start another construction project? There are no other alternative parking options close to the hospital - paid or unpaid.

If you have an appointment coming up or need to go to the hospital for whatever reason, based on my experience I would be prepared to spend half an hour searching for a car park.

Dear robinkq89

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m very sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you encountered with parking at Geraldton Health Campus, particularly on a day when you had an appointment to attend.

I acknowledge that parking capacity has been under significant pressure, especially in the mornings, and we understand how challenging this can be for patients, visitors, and staff. The current works underway are part of broader infrastructure improvements aimed at supporting the long-term needs of the Geraldton community and enhancing healthcare services into the future. I recognise, however, that these important projects can result in short‑term disruption.

During this period, security staff are actively patrolling the hospital grounds and parking areas to support safety, assist with traffic flow where possible, and monitor access across the site. Feedback such as yours is important and has been noted.

I acknowledge the impact that temporary changes, including construction zones and traffic management arrangements have on access and parking availability, and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.

We continue to review parking and access arrangements as works progress, with a focus on minimising disruption wherever possible while delivering these significant infrastructure improvements for the community.

Thank you again for raising this matter and for your patience during this time.

Kind regards

Cameron Ross

Dear robinkq89,

Thank you again for your feedback on Care Opinion.

I wished to provide you an update on the car parking arrangements at Geraldton Health Campus. We have implemented some overflow staff parking, which has freed up about 50 additional consumer parking spaces. I believe this should make a substantial improvement to the parking situation and provide our consumers with much less inconvenience in locating a bay in time for their appointments.

I thank yourself and all our consumers whilst we work through these exciting developments that will have a fantastic benefit to the health services available in the Midwest.

Regards

Cameron Ross
