"Immunisation"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital

(as the patient),

Today I visited KEMH and was assisted by Laura, a midwife in the East Wing clinic who administers immunisations, and I honestly cannot praise her enough. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel completely at ease — calm, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. She explained everything so kindly and naturally, which immediately took away any nerves I had.

She gave me two injections in one arm using a technique she has developed herself — gently scratching the arm, talking, and injecting at the same time. I didn’t feel either injection, not even a tiny prick. I was genuinely shocked at how painless it was.

I think that the way Laura connects with her patients and puts them at ease is truly special. It was hands down the best experience I’ve ever had with injections, and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone, especially those who feel anxious or nervous about immunisations.

Dear decembercf53,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the immunisation service in East Wing Clinic at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Receiving an immunisation can be a little daunting and I was so glad to read that Laura was able to assist you with such comfort and care.

At the Women & Newborn Health Service, we are extremely proud of the level of kindness demonstrated by our staff. Care is an important value to us, and your positive experience is a credit to Laura and her techniques.

I will be sure to pass this compliment on so that Laura can be made aware of what a positive difference she is making in patients' care.

Kind regards,

Karen
