"Stellar treatment in Geraldton ED"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I had a freak accident which resulted in a compound bi malleolar fracture and dislocation of my Left leg. I was triaged quickly and received immediately into resus Bay where the team immediately prepared me for emergency relocation under procedural sedation. I was treated with dignity and care throughout, received full explanation of process and offered opportunity to ask questions.

The successful relocation occurred in a very timely manner and I was referred immediately to ortho team as needed ORIF and washout ASAP. My pain post relocation was uncontrolled post relocation despite a lot of opiates, nursing staff advocated for a regional block which was attended in ED and was very effective.

I would like to give special mention to Stephanie RN PM, Tarryn RN ND,  Dr Robert FACEM, Ortho Reg Ben and particularly doctor Rhys for the block which changed everything.

Dr Ben was very compassionate and explained all my treatment options... at all times I felt like I was empowered to make the right decisions for me with expert guidance. The nursing and care in ED was exemplary, followed by caring and compassionate care in the ward. The advocacy for me when my NVO changed was strong and I received 2 medical reviews prior to surgery.

Thank you to ALL the staff at GRH -nursing, MIT, Medical, PC'S and kitchen staff that have made my health journey a positive one
