"My partner broke their back"

About: Swan Hill District Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a friend),

My partner broke their back due to a seizure/collapse in Nyah. We had emergency ambulance transport to Swan Hill and went straight into the ED. The staff were lovely but I don't think they grasped the idea of how much pain my partner was in and still is when they were discharged not even 24 hours after being brought in.

Due to return to Mildura on the same day as discharge with limited Panadol as pain relief for a 2 and a half hour drive back I think is a bit ridiculous with the severity of the injury.

Overall not satisfied

Dear telescopiumnj76,

I am so sorry that you felt that your partner did not get the pain relief they needed, and that you were not satisfied with the care that you received.

I am more than happy to have further discussion with you about this matter, and am happy for you to contact me on ckeogh@shdh.org.au or 5033 9250 so we could make a mutually suitable time to talk this through. and for me to understand the situation more fully.

Travelling is so challenging with any type or pain and injury, and I appreciate that this would have been a very difficult time.

Doctors are quite restricted in types of pain relief they can offer patients depending on other medications that are being taken, so it would be excellent to get more information and talk to you further about this experience.

Again, I am sorry that it didn't meet with your expectations of Connected Care, Best Experience and that your partner had this pain with unsatisfactory releif.

Kind Regards

Chloe
