"Clinical Research appointment for skin cancer photos"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital

(as the patient),

Attended Bass Coast Health at Wonthaggi Hospital fr a full body scan/photo for a melanoma research study.  I was seen by the Registered Nurse Trish, who is the one who takes the photos, goes through the explanation of the study, the informed consent process etc .

It can be a stressful and confronting experience as you, the participant, are stark naked and exposing all your unsightly moles and lesions! Yet Trish was thoroughly professional, non-judgmental, reassuring and skilled in every aspect of the work.  I have been there three times now, and the precious RN Fiona was similarly professional, skilled and thorough.

I am very appreciative and feel really pleased to be taking part in the study, I think this sort of nursing work is under-appreciated and probably not many people know about it.  I am very impressed with the whole process. I have never seen a doctor nor spoken to one within this project, but I commend the nurses who are doing this work so diligently and capably. Well done and thanks.
