"Excellent care for 3 year old, ED triage to Paediatric ward"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My 3 year old boy was very sick so I took him to the Emergency Department. The nurses, ED doctors were great and treated my little boy so well. Triage nurse was efficient and caring. We had to spend the night in ED, the ED nurse Ellen was exceptional and caring. We were reviewed by surgical team and then paediatric team both were very kind and thorough. Thanks to the PSAs, admin and Radiographer who also put a scared 3 yr old patient at ease.

 We were then transferred to Paediatric ward for the day and nurses Eugenie, Jorja and paediatric doctors were excellent.  We thankfully were able to be discharged home quickly.

As a father myself, I truly understand the worry and distress you must have felt when your son became so unwell. It was therefore heartening to read how well supported you felt by the teams in the Emergency Department, Paediatrics, and across the Health Campus during his admission.

I will ensure that all staff involved in your son’s care have the opportunity to see your feedback and understand how much their compassion and professionalism meant to you. I would also like to take this moment to acknowledge and thank them for the excellent service they provide to our community every day.
