About: Narrogin Midwifery Group Practice

(as the patient),

I recently welcomed my second child into our family and I wanted to thank the team at the Narrogin Midwifery Group Practice for their support ante and post natally. I was lucky enough to have Cindy as my midwife who could not have done more to advocate for me and communicate with my Perth team to ensure I received the best care. Cindy really listened to me and the pregnancy and birth story of my first born, which are complex for many reasons. I truly appreciate the person centred care that she provided.

It was my choice to birth in the private system in Perth to have the opportunity for a maternal assisted caesarean birth, which has truly been a healing experience for me. I understand this is not currently supported within the WACHS system, though I hope this is an option for those who would like to access it in the future, whilst remaining in their local community and the support this offers. With a team with people like Cindy, this would have been my ideal preference, as my support network of family and friends are here locally. I would also like to thank Zoe, Jodie, and Jo for their care post natally. I have truly felt supported welcoming our new baby back home.

Dear polarisfj46,

Thank you for sharing your experience of care with the Narrogin Midwifery Group Practice, and congratulations on the arrival of your new baby.

It is wonderful to hear that you felt well supported by Cindy and the Narrogin Midwifery Group Practice throughout your antenatal and postnatal care, and that the midwifery team provided compassionate, person-centred care. Your kind acknowledgement of Cindy, Zoe, Jodie and Jo is greatly appreciated and will be shared with them.

Thank you also for raising your experience and reflections regarding maternal assisted caesarean birth. We recognise how important individual birth preferences and personal circumstances are for families. Currently, maternal assisted caesarean sections are not offered within WACHS, particularly in rural hospitals, due to theatre capability, workforce availability and clinical safety considerations. However, where clinically appropriate, our teams strive to support immediate skin‑to‑skin contact following caesarean birth to promote early bonding.

Your feedback is valuable and contributes to ongoing statewide discussions as maternity models of care continue to evolve. Insights from lived experience play an important role in shaping future service planning.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your story. We wish you and your family all the very best as you settle in with your new baby.

Kind regards,

Basil Paulose | A/Regional Director Nursing & Midwifery
