"Ectopic Pregnancy"

About: Karratha Health Campus / Surgical Services

(as the patient),

It all started with low right abdominal excruciating pain. At first, after a week of confirming it was an ectopic pregnancy, the doctors and gynaecologists gave me an injection with follow up bloods a week later to see if my HGC levels would drop, as they were dropping I still bled and had a bit of pain.

I went to work as normal, still normal spotting, I had bloods that morning, by 11am Dr Rajeev (gynaecologist) called to talk about my results, he heard I was in pain and advised me to present to ED, lucky enough I did, by 5pm they started to prep me for surgery, once they begun, I already had internal bleeding and about 3 litres.

As my HGC levels were dropping the sack in the fallopian tube was still growing rapidly. With no understanding of what an ectopic pregnancy is, how dangerous it can be and how important it is to always listen to our bodies, Dr Rajeev had saved my life and be able to get me back to my partner and children safely and urged a rushed to get things sorted for me.

Partners and fathers, always listen to mama’s, very important that they also understand the importance of pregnancies, body changes, mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health, changes etc. it’s also ok to ask for a second opinion if your worried, I waited 3 weeks and then been rushed to surgery, if I waited longer, I maybe wouldn’t have been here.

Dear MamaBon97,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We are truly grateful for your kind words and pleased to hear about the care you received during such a frightening and critical time. An ectopic pregnancy can be unpredictable and life-threatening, and your feedback highlights the importance of timely assessment, clinical vigilance, and listening to patients’ concerns.

Your acknowledgement of Dr Rajeev’s responsiveness and clinical judgement will mean a great deal to him, and we will ensure your thanks are shared with him and the Emergency Department and surgical teams involved in your care.

Thank you also for your message encouraging others to seek care early and trust their instincts.

Wishing you continued health and wellbeing.

Warm Regards,

Nhuan Ho
