"My admission to RPH"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I became very unwell while on holidays in Perth and went to the GP. The GP said I needed to be admitted to hospital. I went to RPH ED and waited for less than an hour before I saw the triage nurse who reviewed the GP letter and prioritised me for care.

Within a few hours I was admitted to a short stay ward and then to ward 5A. I had tests done that enabled staff to make a treatment plan and received pain relief. I remained in hospital for 5 days for treatment and during that time was moved to ward 5B to be monitored through HIVE. I also received review from the OT and the Physio and dietician. Once the treatment had been effective I was transferred home. The OT made a plan for when I return home to Melbourne to get some more services at home.

Dear indiatk76

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion, regarding the care you received at Royal Perth Hospital. I am very pleased to hear that, during what must have been a stressful and unexpected time while away from home, you felt supported and received timely treatment.

It is wonderful to know that our Emergency Department team were able to assess you promptly and that the transition through to our Wards and the care provided was of a high standard. I’m also glad that the allied health teams, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Dietetics, were part of the health care team that supported your recovery and discharge.

Our staff strive to deliver coordinated, compassionate, and safe care, so your feedback is truly appreciated.

I hope you are continuing to recover well and that you return home to Melbourne soon.

Warm regards,

Dori Lombardi
