"Orderly staff"

About: Sale Hospital

(as a carer),

My spouse was being transferred from the emergency department to medical Ward at the hospital. The orderly who was taking the bed was complaining about the hospital and management to another staff member that was with them. My spouse was very unwell and oblivious to this conversation but I found it very rude and unprofessional as we had been cared for well in emergency and to hear this person complaining about all of the politics at the hospital was really not appropriate

Dear travellermd54,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention regarding your recent experience at Central Gippsland Health.

We sincerely apologise for the distress and disappointment this situation has caused you. We acknowledge that overhearing unprofessional conversations during what was already a stressful time is not acceptable.

All staff are expected to maintain a respectful and professional standard of conduct at all times, particularly in the presence of patients and their families. Conversations of a personal or workplace nature should never occur in a way that may cause concern or undermine confidence in the care being provided.

Your feedback is appreciated and will be shared with the relevant department to ensure this matter is addressed appropriately and to reinforce expectations regarding professional behaviour.

If you would like to discuss this further, please feel to contact me directly at robert.strickland@cghs.com.au or on 5143 8351
