"Paediatric emergency - suspected appendicitis"

About: Angliss Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

We have just returned home after 48 hours in the paediatric unit of the Angliss.

The nurses were phenomenal! Shout out to Lucia for being awesome, and Beth, Claire, Maddy & Randy - who all went above & beyond to ensure my child was getting the best care possible.

I felt the surgical team were less than average. We needed to repeat our concerns/symptoms every time they came. It was as if they had never seen my child before.

I thought the first doctor was very sweet, but really struggled with taking and testing blood - to the point it needed to be done again! And they got blood all over my child's hand, the floor & the table. The urine test was incorrectly labelled and also needed to be repeated.

After 24 hours we had an ultrasound which showed nothing. It took many hours to find that out. They said a CT scan would be good, but not advisable as my child was under 18. At 11pm, we had a CT scan.

This scan was not reviewed for another 15 hours! Again, they said nothing evident.

So now we are home. My child has not eaten or drunk for 5 days (has vomited up everything they have tried to consume).

Surgeon suggested going to GP for referral. To whom? I do not know! Urgent care recommended hospital 48 hours ago at the time of writing this.

Still no answers.

So disappointed

But nurses are brilliant!
