"Private Midwife Continuity of Care"

About: Eaton Medical Centre

(as the patient),

Priscilla, our private endorsed midwife, came into our lives 2 years ago and convinced us through education, to have a home water birth for our first baby.

Fast forward to now, and we have had yet another beautiful home birth for our second baby, this time, through her own private practice ‘Forming Families Mobile Midwife.’

Having a private Endorsed Midwife such as Priscilla made a world of difference ! Priscilla visits at your home for appointments and is able to write your scan referrals/ prescribe medication if needed and so much more.

She works collaboratively alongside OBGP Dr Martin.

Together, they helped me navigate any medical problems/worries I had during pregnancy, by being informative and supported what I wanted for my pregnancy and birth.

They are a great team and I am forever thankful for them.

This pregnancy I was also introduced to Sylvie, a student midwife who attended appointments with me. I am thankful for this experience, as it allowed a student to see what a continuity of care model could achieve.

I will forever advocate for continuity of care with a midwife to have the best birth outcome. Having a midwife from conception all the way through to 6 weeks postpartum is something not every woman experiences, but should!

It has been so special to watch our daughter be able to be part of the antenatal visits with Priscilla and watch and learn as her sister has grown. And even though she slept all the way through the birth of her sister, this form of care has normalised childbirth for her, the way it should be!

I am so grateful to have had these experiences of a physiological birth, by trusting my body, my baby, my partner and my midwife.

Pregnancy and birth doesn’t always go the way we think it should, but having trust in a midwife that will advocate for you through it all, no matter what happens, makes all the difference.

Priscilla was that midwife for me
