About: Geraldton Community Health Service

(as a service user),

I attended the community health building for my daughters 8 week check and my 2yr health check. I was Early, I felt the Nurse was not interested in hearing my concerns, struggled to engage in conversation. My 2yr old was pretty much ignored except for having their height, weight & length completed which I believe was done incorrectly and mismatched with my 8 week old baby's measurements and vice versa. 

The checks to be carried out as per the book weren’t completed at all. 

I’ve had to re book the checks so they are now done correctly. 

Having a service like this needs consistency of care and consistency of the same nurses which allow the parents and children to build a rapport.

I was very sorry to read that you had such a negative experience with your children’s health appointment. We are committed to providing compassionate and thorough care provided by engaged staff and I offer my apologies that you did not experience our service in this manner. I can appreciate that encountering a staff member that was not interested in listening to you would be very disheartening and I assure you this feedback will be used to give our Child Health Nurses the opportunity to reflect on how they can be committed to high quality care.
