I would like to state for the record, the majority of the nurses I’ve come into contact with have been lovely, and Dr B is one of the most respectful doctors I’ve met.
However, on several occasions now I’ve had issues with a specific staff member in one ward. From what I believe is a dismissive attitude to lack of information disclosed, I think it’s just not acceptable behaviour from a clinican, let alone someone in their position. And most of the doctors I have seen have the worst communication of any hospital I’ve been too, I understand that if your asked to call a family member to give them an update, for a patient who has cognitive decline, you do it, at some point within 24hrs.
I understand the nurses are overloaded but I think there should be a standard level of care, and not just because they are being followed up with by family members. I fear for those without family advocation. Because I believe the health system being broken is bad enough, but having staff that seemingly don’t actually care about their patients, that’s when things become an issue.
"Communication and staffing."
