"Great, compassionate care"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department Broome Health Campus / Paediatrics Kununurra Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Just a quick shout out to the staff at both Broome and Kununurra Hospitals. We presented to Broome hospital last week with our young son after navigating three days of him being unwell and being on the fence whether to go in or not. After an overnight stay on the paeds ward and flight home to Kununurra, we ended up back in ED the next morning. All the staff we encountered at both sites were fantastic - they were caring, compassionate and most importantly, we left feeling listened to and heard. We were actively involved in every step of the way and everyone went out of their way to help. Thank you all!

Dear osprey82

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We are so pleased to hear that your family felt cared for, listened to and actively involved throughout your journey across both Broome and Kununurra Hospitals. Navigating a child’s illness can be incredibly stressful, particularly when care spans more than one site, and it is reassuring to know our teams were able to support you with compassion and professionalism.

Our staff strive to provide the best possible care that is individualised, culturally safe and family-centred. Ensuring that patients and families feel heard, respected and involved in decision-making is fundamental to how we deliver care.

We are also grateful for your feedback. Positive feedback not only recognises the efforts of our teams, but also provides us with valuable insight and opportunity to continue enhancing and strengthening our service for the communities we serve.

If you wish to reach out further, please feel free to contact Catherine Engelke - EK SMO.

Thank you again for your kind words. We wish your son a continued and full recovery.

Kind regards

Catherine Engelke
