"Successful VBAC"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I gave birth to my second daughter at Bunbury hospital. This birth was a VBAC after my first delivery didn’t go the way I planned and ended up in an emergency c section. Throughout my outpatient appointments, I felt extremely supported and well informed, about my decision to have a VBAC. I was never talked out of it or discouraged about my choices.

Come to delivery day, I went into labour at home and spoke to the wonderful, Abbey, who was coordinating that night. As we had over an hours travel to get to the hospital, she made a great plan with me and never made me feel dismissed or unreasonable about needing to come into hospital. My contractions ramped up quick and we made it in time with only an hour to spare before my beautiful daughter arrived. We were greeted by our beautiful midwife, Heidi, and our student midwife, Sabrina, and we could not have asked to have two better people involved in our care/delivery. Heidi was the most beautiful, calm but encouraging midwife we could have asked for. And Sabrina, who had been apart of my pregnancy journey, was sensational. Her calming and confident presence reassured me throughout my birth. She is a very special person and we feel so fortunate to have found her to be a part of our story. We could not fault the two of them and strongly believe they were the reason I was able to deliver my girl naturally with no pain relief. It was our dream birth and outcome. We feel so blessed to have had everything go the way it did and believe it came down to these special ladies. We can’t thank you enough for your care. Maternity ward has been sensational to us during both pregnancies and we feel very fortunate to have such service available to us.

Thank you so much again! We have been a world of love and happiness and very appreciative for a smooth recovery this time.

Dear yellownh47,

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful birth story with us. Your words are incredibly moving, and we feel truly honoured to have been part of such an important moment in your life.

Your journey to a VBAC took courage, trust, and resilience, and it means so much to hear that throughout your outpatient appointments you felt supported, informed, and never discouraged in your choices. That is the experience we strive to ensure every woman feels, and your feedback reminds us why this work is so meaningful.

Your reflections on Abbey’s thoughtful coordination, and the calm, supportive care from Heidi and Sabrina, are deeply appreciated. You captured their compassion and professionalism so beautifully. They will be touched to know the impact they had on your confidence, your comfort, and ultimately your dream birth.

To know that you felt empowered, safe, and supported—and that this helped you achieve the birth you hoped for—means everything to our entire maternity team. We are delighted that your recovery has been smooth and that you are now soaking up this precious time surrounded by love and happiness.

Thank you again for taking the time to write such a heartfelt message. It is a privilege to have been part of both your pregnancies, and we wish you and your family endless joy as you settle in with your new little girl.

Warmest congratulations,

Katrina Jones
