I am an older person, unsteady on my feet and with a Handicap parking sticker.
Recently I had a 9 am appointment at the hospital and arrived there with plenty of time. There are 2 handicap parking spots in front of the hospital and both of them were occupied. 1 vehicle had a handicap sticker the other did not. There was meant to be two more spots in the Staff parking so I drove there but a swipe card was required for accessing it. So I then drove to Broome Primary school and parked in one of their bays . I made my appointment on time however crossing the busy street in front of the school on unsteady legs was very difficult.
I complained at the front desk and they told me about 2 spots off a lane way.
Later that morning when I was at the shopping centre I was phoned by the hospital to come and repeat a test. This time I went to the laneways that I had been told about with additional handicap parking only to arrive and find yet again both spots occupied 1 by a car with a valid handicap sticker and one by a car that shouldn’t have been there.
This is the slow time of year in Broome when there are no tourists. I will dread going to the Hospital once tourist season is on.
