"EUA Hysteroscopy D&C, Laparoscopic"

About: Karratha Health Campus / Surgical Services

(as the patient),

This week, I underwent surgery at Karratha Health Campus under the care of Dr Rajeev, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Walking into hospital, I felt nervous but also reassured. From the very beginning, I felt listened to, respected, and genuinely involved in every decision about my body and my health. That made all the difference.

One of the most important parts of this journey for me was being fully informed. Before surgery, everything was clearly explained, the reasons for each procedure, the risks, the benefits, and the alternatives. I was aware that my AMH levels were low and understood what that could mean. I was given the choice between removing the ovary completely or just removing the cyst. Preserving my ovary mattered to me, I felt supported in choosing a cystectomy instead of an oophorectomy. That conversation alone made me feel empowered rather than rushed.

The surgery itself was straightforward. There were no complications, no spillage during the procedure, and surgical counts were correct. Haemostasis was perfect. Reading that in the report made me feel confident in the care I received.

What stands out to me most isn’t just the clinical success of the operation, but how I was treated as a person. I never felt like just another patient. I felt heard. My symptoms weren’t dismissed. My concerns about pain, fertility, hormones, and long term outcomes were acknowledged and addressed. Every question I asked was answered respectfully.

As a 29 year old mum, my health matters not just for me, but for my children. Being able to make informed decisions about preserving my ovary, managing my bleeding. I felt involved every step of the way from consenting to the procedures, to understanding why each one was necessary, to discussing follow-up care.

Post op I have been given clear instructions: standard wound care, simple oral analgesia, blood tests, and follow-up appointments with my GP and the gynaecology clinic. I know what to look out for and when to seek help. That clarity reduces anxiety and helps me focus on healing.

Dr Rajeev demonstrated professionalism, skill, and compassion. His thoroughness during surgery checking for bleeding, ensuring no spillage, sending samples for pathology, documenting everything clearly shows a high standard of care. But beyond that, his communication and respect for my choices made this experience positive.
