"Amazing service in midwifery"

About: Swan Hill District Hospital / Midwifery Department

(as the patient),

Just wanted to share my positive experience from the Midwifery team. The care I received from all the girls was amazing. Firstly I was transferred from Swan Hill to Bendigo due to being pre term which was very prompt and efficient, once I was discharged from Bendigo the team from Midwifery made sure I came in for 2 day weight checks for my baby or if I couldn’t come in they offered to come out to me.

When it was raised that he wasn’t putting on enough weight they offered for me to stay the night to help establish feeding and help get my milk supply up, which I did take up. All the girls were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, kind and caring. They also referred me to the breast feeding support service too who have also been amazing and helpful.

This is my 4th baby but the only one I have breastfed consistently for so long because of the one on one help and support I have had from the midwives here in swan hill (my others were born in a city hospital which you can certainly see and feel the difference between the care received). So I just wanted to say thank you your care and support doesn’t go unnoticed!x

Dear pegasusyn76,

Your story has really been so well received- thank you for taking the time to write down your experience. I really appreciate that you have had other experiences from other centres and teams and other births and pregnancies that you are comparing our service to, and you were able to breast feed for a little longer with this additional support this time around.

I took the opportunity of your story here on Care Opinion to thank the breast feeding service and the midwifery team for their support of you through our daily team meeting across the health service.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you and your family and little one are doing well.

Kind Regards,

Chloe
