"A Strong Example of Rural Healthcare in Tennant Creek"

I recently attended the Emergency Department at Tennant Creek Hospital and had a very positive experience. I was seen quickly, the intake nurse was kind and thorough, and the doctor listened carefully and took my concerns seriously.

I have also attended a specialist appointment through the GP service and was genuinely impressed by the range of specialist services available locally. Having lived in other rural areas, I have not always had access to this level of care. The clinicians I have seen have been highly qualified, professional and very helpful.

Another thing that stands out is how accessible GP appointments are, there are rarely long waits compared with many other places. It is also encouraging to see Rural Generalist trainees spending time in Tennant Creek rather than only in larger centres like Alice Springs or Darwin. It’s great that the hospital is supporting these career pathways, as rural communities really need more doctors trained and experienced in these settings.

Overall, I have been very impressed with the care available in Tennant Creek and appreciate the dedication of the staff working here.
