Dear Sydney Eye Hospital Team,
I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to two staff members who looked after me during a very stressful and unexpected visit this week.
On Monday, I had worked in the morning and thought I was heading to a quick GP appointment. Instead, I was suddenly asked to go straight to Emergency at Sydney Eye Hospital. I was very worried and unsure what to expect.
Dr Joanna took the time to listen to everything I shared, and after giving me the diagnosis, she patiently answered all my questions. Her reassurance and the clear action plan she provided for the next 48 hours made an enormous difference. When I returned on Wednesday for my follow-up, she greeted me warmly and asked how my eye felt and how I had slept. Her genuine care for every patient is so evident in everything she does.
On Wednesday, I was also cared for by a lovely nurse, I believe her name was Nurse Mary. She was incredibly kind and friendly. She took the time to explain everything to me, from contact lens care to answering all my questions, and she carefully checked my eyesight. Her warmth and professionalism helped me feel at ease during a stressful time.
In both situations, it was clear that these staff members were not only doing their jobs—they were giving 110% to ensure their patients feel safe, supported, and cared for. The level of compassion, professionalism, and dedication they showed was truly exceptional.
I hope both Dr Joanna and Nurse Mary are recognised for their outstanding service and commitment to patient care. I left feeling far more confident about my healing journey because of them.
Thank you so much to both of them.
Warm regards,
