"My Uncle"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / ASB 3S - Community Management Centre

(as a carer),

Twice my Uncle has required the service of the POW Community Nurses.

Both times have bren the result of injuries sustained from falls out of his control,  firstly being hit by a gurney hose and secondly by  an ebike,  both on local footpaths. Each time he fell forward resulting in traumatic,  hand , arm and knee injuries,  as well as a nasty facial bruise the second time.  Bleeding +++ thanks to Apixaban and emotionally devastating.

Thanks to the expert care and management not just of the physical wounds but the person as well,  my Uncle's wounds have healed well with no complication of infection or breakdown.

Most importantly the pain has subsided and he has regained a feeling of confidence and independence,  both essential as a 90year old still living independently.

For that we have Hazel and her colleagues to thank for that. This service is greatly appreciated  and needs continue to be funded accordingly. Thank you all so much,  on behalf of myself and my 90year old Uncle.

Dear requirementdh79,

Thank you for taking the time to provide the wonderful feedback for the Prince of Wales Primary Care Team.

I'm very sorry to read that your uncle has been injured twice.

The physical and psychological injuries being cared for in such a compassionate and holistic way are true measures of the brilliant care our community nurses provide.

Building confidence is very important after these types of incidents and I wish your uncle the very best on his journey.

I will be sure to pass your feedback onto Hazel and the Primary Care Team.

Sincerely,
Brenton
A/Co-Director Nursing & Operations
