About: Joondalup Health Campus

(as the patient),

After smashing my pelvis on the right hand side with multiple breaks on my left side of my pelvis and sacrum plus breaks to my pubic bone I was referred to Joondalup hospital outpatient physio center.

After being in a wheelchair for 8 weeks and being given the okay by the surgeon to put 50% weight on my right leg and full on my left leg. I went to my first appointment at Joondalup where I was told to stand for the first time and then given a walker for a week then the following week I went back was given crutches and told no more wheelchair I proceeded to use the crutches but after going to sir Charlie’s Gardens hospital for hydro I was then told to due to the situation I’m only to use the crutches in the house or short distance and wheelchair for anything further.

I do feel like due to the severity of my condition I wasn’t really listened to and it was like they haven’t read the reports from the hospital, they kept referring to my injuries as a hip not a pelvis crush injury also felt like they are trying to rush me back to semi normal by removing all aids too fast.

Don’t think they have really had many crush injuries and in my opinion, they seem to deal with more knees etc and just want to get you in and out in 10 minutes

I would like the team at JHC to have the opportunity to review the clinical details and treatment provided to you on this occasion and encourage you to contact the Consumer Liaison Team who will be able to take your personal details so that the matter can be further investigated.
