"Thank you Lauren and the team at Bentley FBC!"

About: Bentley Hospital / RPBG Midwifery Birth Centre

(as the patient),

My family had the most amazing experience with the Bentley Family Birth Centre service.

I was paired with midwife Lauren who was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and also had several visits and support from the fantastic Grace and Liz! This was my first pregnancy and the team really supported me in learning a ton about my body and my baby.

I was initially a bit scared to try and have a low intervention birth but I loved the model, the beautiful facility and the team and ended up getting really excited about the process and empowered to give it my best try.

Unfortunately at 28 weeks complications began and I had to be referred to KEMH instead and ended up with an induction and emergency c-section at 38 weeks due to having a small baby who could not cope with labour. I was devastated to not get to birth at Bentley, but I felt so blessed to receive continued care from the team through this time and also after the birth at home.

Lauren went over the call of duty to talk me through what was happening during the lead up to and whilst I was in hospital and really scared about what might happen to my baby during a complicated labour and delivery, giving us so much reassurance during a really scary time. I would have felt extremely unprepared if I hadn’t learned so much throughout the program and with a trusted, known person to speak to during this time who knew my history and genuinely cared about me.

Now thanks to the at home support after the birth, our family is thriving despite navigating a demanding weight gain program for our baby. Overall I could not fault my experience with the team at Bentley and have told anybody who asks about what a special model of care the program is able to provide. I cannot recommend it enough!

Dear kilobd44

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with the Midwifery Birth Centre team at Bentley Hospital. We feel privileged to be part of such an important chapter in your family’s life.

I am delighted to hear how well supported you felt throughout your pregnancy, and that Lauren, Grace and Liz provided the personalised, compassionate care we strive for. Our midwives are deeply committed to building strong, trusting relationships with the families they care for, and your reflections on the knowledge, empowerment and confidence you gained are incredibly meaningful to us.

While I am very sorry that complications prevented you from birthing at the Centre as you had hoped, I am glad to know that the continuity of care and familiar support helped guide you through what must have been an overwhelming and frightening time. Your comments about Lauren’s commitment during your hospital stay, ensuring you felt informed, reassured and never alone, speak to the heart of what midwives aim to provide.

It is wonderful to hear that you and your baby are now thriving at home, and that the postnatal support has made a positive difference as you navigate your baby’s needs. Your willingness to recommend the program to others is one of the greatest compliments we could receive.

Thank you again for sharing your story. I will make sure your kind words are passed on to the team, I know they will be truly touched.

Warm Regards

Sarah-Louise Laing
