"Every staff member from reception- to the recovery ward"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as the patient),

My mum told me the nurses were really nice to her, explained I had a few complications but I was okay and asked if I was usually pale, she said no.

Each staff member I came in contact with from reception to the recovery ward were really nice and treated me with respect. When I’m nervous I tend to ramble to distract myself. Everyone made me feel heard even if it was random stuff. I feel like I “fell asleep” quickly so yay!

When waking up I heard the nurses say my blood pressure was low and they sounded a little concerned so kept the cuff on me they gave me water, juice and food and I felt like I was in safe hands, in the past I have freaked out when waking up in recovery wards but everyone around me was calm and helpful which helps keep me calm. I also like that I woke up with extra blankets so I was really warm that was nice since I hate waking up cold.

Dear matarnh68,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for providing such thoughtful feedback about the care you received during your recent admission to Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH).

I am very pleased to hear that you felt respected and supported by staff at every point of your journey. Knowing that our staff took the time to explain what was happening, kept your family informed, and responded compassionately when you were feeling nervous is very reassuring to hear.

I also appreciate you describing your time in recovery. It is encouraging to hear that staff closely monitored your condition, responded calmly to changes in your blood pressure, and ensured you were comfortable and warm. Knowing that this helped you feel safe, particularly given your previous experiences in recovery settings, is very important and reflects the attentiveness and care shown by the team.

Your feedback has been shared with the Post Anaesthetic Recovery team and theatre nursing staff, and I am confident they will value knowing that their professionalism and compassion had such a positive impact on your experience.

Thank you again for sharing your kind words. I wish you a smooth and comfortable recovery.

Kind regards,

Luke Dix
