"GDM management at Armadale Health Service"

About: Armadale Hospital / Diabetes Clinic

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in a recent pregnancy and was placed under the care of the diabetes team/MAPS at Armadale Health Service. This was my second pregnancy with GDM and in my first, I was required to transfer to a different hospital for the remainder of my pregnancy when I needed insulin treatment.

Being local to the area, I was very grateful to be able to remain at Armadale, it saved me a lot of time and made appointments much easier, especially with other young children at home.

The care I received at Armadale was second to none and felt much more personalised than care in a larger hospital - I was able to email my diabetes educator (Jane-Anne) with any questions and always received a prompt, helpful response. I had some unusual issues with my blood sugar during this pregnancy and the team at Armadale were able to keep on top of it well, seeking advice from KEMH on my behalf when needed.

My pregnancy resulted in a beautiful, healthy baby girl and I am very thankful for all the help I have received over the last few months. Thank you!
