I suffer from extreme anxiety. The surgery experience is very distressing to me. The care and understanding I received from the staff was extremely helpful to me and greatly appreciated. I have previously experienced hospital staff who did not understand my anxiety and made me feel stupid - this experience was totally different - I was understood and offered assistance and understanding of my anxiety. The staff were very experienced and very very caring. They made me feel supported and that I was in good care.
In particular I would like to thank the lovely young nurse in the holding room prior to surgery - she went out of her way to help me and had suggestions on how I could lower my anxiety - eg. Bright lights and earplugs for the noise.
The anesthetic nurse was also very lovely - she calmed me and explained exactly what would happen, which helped to lower my anxiety.
My care nurse Ellie in the maternity ward (where I was sent for after care). She was professional and very very caring - she made me feel safe and was a wonderful nurse. Her care was greatly appreciated.
