My sibling has Stage Four Lung Cancer and is deteriorating. My parent is in their 80s and lives near Albany. My parent had to go to Perth a week ago as my sibling is not coping, hasn't been able to turn up to radiotherapy ( which is for their pain only) and they have been collapsing due to not being able to manage their Pain Medication properly on their own. My sibling is in great pain if they don't take them, but unable to function when they do.
Today my parent went to sibling's Oncologist appointment with my sibling who is organising Silver Chain to assist with their medication, or, if that doesn't work, the Oncologist did mention admitting my sibling into Bethesda.
However, I just heard from my parent that someone from the Medical Team has phoned them and asking what their plans are after my sibling finishes treatment?
My parent feels they were being pressured to stay at my sibling's in Perth and look after them.
My parent said they feel that the Teams are not communicating with each other!
My parent is in their 80s! They are stressed and they are elderly! My parent needs to go home to Albany. My sibling needs specialised care if they cannot cope. I think it's disgusting that pressure is on my elderly parent who has had to drive for hours from Albany to Perth at their age.
Do Better!
