"Lack of personal hygiene and provision of adequate food and fluids for a person with severely limited mobility"

About: OneCare

(as a relative),

Our loved one is unable to get out of bed without being hoisted due to a stroke. They are unable to get to the bathroom sink to clean their teeth. Their teeth are now rotting, causing multiple health issues.

The staff continuously place fluids out of reach. I feel that the food is tasteless and unappealing……with the same deserts being offered daily…..canned fruits and carton custard !

I feel that the Care Manager seemingly has no respect for the residents and none for the families concerns for their loved ones. In my opinion they are incredibly hostile when concerns are raised. It seems they deny residents adequate dental and health care, by claiming they themselves are refusing care ! In my experience they deny the residents the full support of family in Care Plan Meetings.

I think that room temperatures are set far too high during the day, I believe causing dehydration and lack of enthusiasm to eat. At night the room temperature is set extremely low, to the point of chilling. In my opinion, this seems deliberate!
