"my time at LLW Shanty Creek"

About: Shanty Creek Residential Rehabilitation Facility

(as a service user),

First time in rehab so it made me feel very anxious and sad however with the staff being very calm and respectful it made me feel very at ease.

For me finding friends in a new place was difficult but i put that all aside and made so many friends :)

the team helped me very much i am now more confident then i have ever been..

Part 2

I honestly thought I was in control of my addiction until my life came crashing down that's when I knew I needed professional help.

To me rehab was never an option I hated the thought of being away from my family and not being in control of my life, but the sad reality was that I needed someone else to help me manage my life before I stopped wanting to live..

I've always been a shy reserved person so when I first arrived at Shanty Creek I was so nervous I wanted to just crawl into my bed and stay there for the next 12 weeks, but slowly overtime I started to open up and engage with other residents and finding genuine connections with people who understand what I was going through without judgement, I truly believe I have found myself again thanks to the program, I entered the program a with a lot of baggage (shame, guilt, dissapointment) and now I leave a whole new person brighter, happier and more confident

Special thanks to my case manage Tanya: I can't thank you enough for seeing that glimmer of light though all my darkness, today i can say with pride that i am 135 day clean and sober thanks to you. you taught me how to be confident again but most importantly you taught me how to love myself.

To all the staff at Shanty Creek:  Thank you for being there whenever i needed a yarn :)

i cant wait to see what the future holds for me.. always remember that " you are somebody's someone"

Hello,

Congratulations on taking the step to seek support at Shanty Creek,

It is a big commitment to yourself staying in rehab, so your feelings are very valid. I am glad to hear that many of your worries or concerns were broken down once you entered the program and met the staff and other residents.

I will pass this message on to the team who I am sure will be happy to hear from you.

Thanks again for sharing your experiences, it helps so much for others who might be thinking about reaching out.

Remember to stay in touch, and we are always here if you need anything in the future.

Kris
