"The birth of our twins."

About: Armadale Hospital / Maud Bellas Maternity Ward & Neonatal Nursery

(as a parent/guardian),

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible staff at Armadale Hospital who work in the the maternity ward and NICU for the care and compassion shown to our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives.

Losing our son Wolfe, who was one of our twins, is something we will carry with us forever but in the midst of that heartbreak, we also welcomed our beautiful daughter into the world. The support we received made an unimaginable situation just that little bit more bearable.

A very special thank you to Michelle and Bonnie, whose kindness went above and beyond to say the least. Allowing us the opportunity to step outside for a photo shoot with our family gave us a moment of fresh air, connection, and peace that we will cherish forever. Those photos are something that we will always hold close to our hearts. They will play a massive role when it comes to explaining and showing our daughter, the journey that her and her big brother went on with their Mum and Dad.

Michelle, our family cannot express how thankful and grateful we are with how many times you went above and beyond to make our bitter sweet experience as sweet as possible. With your help, you allowed Myself, my partner, Wolfe and our daughter the opportunity to be out in the world together as a family. Knowing that our son was able to experience being out in the open with his little sister was honestly a massive jump and head-start in our grieving process. I’ll never be able to come up with the words to truly express how beautiful and memorable that was for us. We as a family will forever be grateful for everything you did for us.

We would also like to sincerely thank Erin, Sam, Alex, Jane, Leila, all the midwives and nurses for their care, empathy, and professionalism throughout our time in the hospital. Each of you played a huge part in making us feel supported, heard, and cared for every step of the way.

The compassion, understanding, and genuine kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you for helping us navigate both the joy and the heartbreak in such a gentle and respectful way. Please know that all you ladies have become family to us. We will always be proud to share our story in hope that other families out there who may unfortunately have to experience situations like ours, will have a bunch of beautiful ladies that will try their absolute hardest to make such a painful time, as painless and happy as possible.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all.

Love from my partner, myself, Wolfe & our daughter.

Dear WXRAJR070326

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your beautiful son, Wolfe. We also acknowledge the profound complexity of your experience — grieving for Wolfe while welcoming your precious daughter into the world.

Your words speak to the deep love and devotion you hold for your children, and to the role compassion and support played during such a difficult time. It is clear how meaningful it was to feel supported, heard, and cared for as you navigated both heartbreak and joy side by side.

Your reflections about Michelle and Bonnie are incredibly moving. The moments they helped create for your family — time together, connection beyond the hospital walls, and memories that will be held forever — were clearly significant for you and played an important role in your grieving and healing.

I will ensure that your kind words are passed on to Michelle, Bonnie, Erin, Sam, Alex, Jane, Leila, and the wider midwifery and nursing teams. Your acknowledgement of their care and professionalism will mean a great deal to them.

I wish your family strength and comfort at this time.

Warm regards

Sarah-Louise Laing
