"Schitzophrenic left in ER for 16hours"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Recently, my adult schitzophrenic grandchild had an agressive episode. We called the police, who took them to an ER, however triage were over loaded and as a result the police took them to Fiona Stanley ER. My grandchild has sat in the waiting room for 16 hours. We phoned next morning and were told that there were 2 patient in line before my grandchild. A few hours later, our grandchild text their parent and informed them that they were ready to walk out as my grandchild was still in the waiting room. After another phone call to ER over our concerns that a mental health patient has been left for this long. A lovely nurse by the name of Sarah looked into the situation and phoned us and informed us that our grandchild was now at least in a bed, she had also given our grandchild food and a drink. My grandchild had become so tied that they had calmed down, however surely a person who is suffering from schitozphrenia, hearing voices and seeing things would have be prioritised.
