"Childhood immunisation clinic parking"

About: Geraldton Community Health Service

(as a service user),

I recently took my baby to the child health immunisation clinic, one of many appointments at the clinic. I’m thankful for the one pram bay outside the hospital on shenton street and can appreciate the courtesy parking spot. But it’s never been vacant for me to use. Recently I had to park at the rear of the hospital and walk all through the hospital to get to the community health building. All the street parking along shenton street and Milford street was occupied. I thought the revamp of the hospitals car park would mean more accessible parking but not for the community health building.

No one appreciates walking back through the hospital to the back carpark with an unhappy baby, post vaccinations.

Could there be some consideration for more pram/parents parking? It sucks running late from an appointment (because what new parent isn't rushing) only to find there's no parking.

Dear festivityhr58,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us on Care Opinion. I’m sincerely sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you experienced in relation to parking at Geraldton Health Campus, particularly on a day when you were attending an appointment.

We acknowledge that parking availability is currently under significant pressure, especially during morning periods, and we understand how difficult this can be for patients, visitors, and staff. The works underway across the campus form part of broader infrastructure upgrades designed to support the long‑term needs of the Geraldton community and strengthen health services into the future. We recognise, however, that these essential projects can cause short‑term disruption.

Security staff are routinely patrolling hospital grounds and parking areas to support safety, monitor access and assist with traffic flow where possible.

We acknowledge the impact that temporary measures, including construction zones and traffic management arrangements, have on access and parking availability, and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. Consumer feedback such as yours plays an important part in guiding ongoing and future developments and it is much appreciated.

Parking and access arrangements continue to be reviewed as works progress, with a strong focus on minimising disruption wherever possible while delivering these significant infrastructure improvements for the community.

Thank you again for raising this matter and for your patience during this period.

Kind regards

Cameron Ross
