"I took my 13 year old son into Emergency PCH. The care we received was exceptional! full of kindness, caring, very professional! Thank you!"

About: Perth Children's Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Following a weekend away in Moore River, my son had an accident, as he was sliding down the sand dunes at great speed approx. 40 km/hr on his boogie board, and sliding into the river, a grown up man walked in front of him, resulting in my sons, head going into this guy’s leg and knocking him off his feet into the water. I took him to Emergency PCH, for check-up, as he was in pain a possible mild concussion, and given the impact, and possible risk of spine injury.

The care we received at Perth Children’s Hospital was excellent... as fast as could have been on a long weekend, with every single staff being so calm, gentle, friendly, doing the best to ensure my son and I were ok. There was regular checks on my son, for all sorts of things, including his pain to try and make him as comfortable as possible.

In the space of 24 hrs, we had a spine Xray, CT head Scan, MRI's, and more XRays. All along we were in clean and immaculate spaces, with pleasant environments, given it were emergency and noisy, they tried to make us feels as comfortable as possible.

We felt respected, heard, and seen every step of the way… Even my son, that was in quite a bit of pain and discomfort , kept saying “ every one is soooo nice”

When transferred to the ward. Even more comfort and privacy. Including someone checking where I had parked the car, giving me a care pack with toiletries, and parking and food vouchers (thanks to private health insurance)

I want to publicly thanks the kindness, and professional care we received from every single staff member be it those wheeling his bead from one place to other, to people bringing in food, to the nurses rotating him on his side, to Doctors working on long weekend , as well as imaging staff who were on call, on their day off and had to come in. If I would have got all of your names I would be thanking you individually!

How incredibly lucky to be able to receive such first class care, in first class facilities, for our children at no extra financial cost. Feeling greatfull!
