I had heart failure and they looked after me in Prince of Wales Hospital hospital. They were fantastic, a great team. They saved my life.
Everybody was helpful, everybody was great. I couldn’t say one thing negative about it. The whole experience was as nice as they could make it. If you’re ever in that position, go to the Prince of Wales.
When I was going through it, when I was actually having the failure part, I remember I sort of woke up and was in an emergency room and there was so many people in there. I was a little bit overwhelmed with that because they were all introducing themselves to me and saying what they were going to don. In the end, I had to ask them to step away a bit because I was a bit overwhelmed. Then they gave me something and I went to sleep. But they were all fantastic, and were all working so hard for me. What can say to that except well done, you beautiful people.
I could not have asked for better care. Thank God we’re Australia. There was nothing those people wouldn’t do for me.
When I was in ICU and they’re in there, you don’t get loads of sleep because monitors are beeping. And some poor soul comes to the bed next to you and they are working on them. But that's okay because you need to give people a bit of respect and kindness.
After ICU, the heart clinic people came to visit me. Then they asked if I’d like to do the rehab so I did. I did it twice because I thought it was quite beneficial. They were kind. They fitted me in and it was good to do. Again they looked after me a treat as well.
And then when I got home, they were so good and rang up and sent a lady out and they gave me the scales, the blood pressure machine and an oximeter for me. I just did that everyday for a while and they would monitor my readings. Then I eventually went down to every second day. They would call if something like your weight was going up because that would be due to fluid - how good is that.
Perhaps for others who don’t have anybody, how nice is it that to know that somebody will give a damn and check you’re ok. Health link service – that did the monitoring. I was so impressed. They do such a good job. They have my utmost admiration!
I considered myself blessed to have those people working there for me.
I’m very happy with my outcome, and it may not have been this outcome if they hadn’t been there.
"Great outcome thanks to Prince of Wales Hospital"
