"Treatment and follow up for my child"

About: Broome Community Health Service Telehealth Service - WACHS Kimberley

(as a parent/guardian),

I thought the doctor was initially ok, however the lack of follow up and care has been extremely disappointing. My child was diagnosed with adhd in April. The doctor advised they would follow up with us by phone call in 2 weeks to see how my child was going on the new medication and make any adjustments. We heard nothing for about a month and only after I called and emailed the practice several times did we get a phone consult booked.

The phone call lasted all of 1 minute and 35 seconds, The doctor spoke over me the entire time, I didnt get the opportunity to explain what was going on with my child or the impacts the medication has had on them. The doctor immediately suggested a long acting version of the same medication but offered zero advice regarding the sleep issues my child is experiencing and suggested we go to a GP. It is now June and we have yet to receive a formal letter/diagnosis to present to the school. We feel completely dismissed and ignored.

I believe the doctor boasted about the fact that they are one of the highest prescribing paeds in WA and we dont doubt that for a second - seemingly throw a script at your patients and forget about them. Beyond frustrated considering the almost year long waitlist to even see a paed!
