"Unauthorised Sharing of Birth Information"

About: Kununurra Hospital / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

I am deeply saddened to learn that comments regarding my labour, birth experience, and my baby were made by a midwife and further shared to the public by another.

They were not in attendance of my labour and delivery and or my care, perhaps the one of them took care of me for one day but other than that wasn’t a part of it.

I have serious concerns regarding the discussion and sharing of information relating to my labour and birth, particularly given my understanding of the professional and ethical obligations surrounding patient confidentiality. Based on what has been brought to my attention, I am concerned that these obligations may have been breached.

I am more than willing to provide context around what was said and shared,

I respectfully request that this matter be investigated thoroughly and treated with the seriousness it warrants. Every mother has the right to expect that her private medical information and birth experience will be handled with professionalism, discretion, and respect.
