"Child Health Service"

About: Geraldton Community Health Service

(as a service user),

Attended a child health appointment to find out that they had booked it with a nurse I had requested not to see due to previous interactions. Rather than make a scene I attended the appointment and again the staff member wasn’t aware of what I was there for and hadn’t read the previous notes for my child. For the first appointment of the day I felt they were extremely unorganised. When I spoke with reception it seemed they were just dismissive again stating the staff member had a lot experience and was highly recommended.

Dear quebectj44

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us via Care Opinion.

I was sorry to learn that once again you and your child did not have a positive experience with our service. I wish to offer my apologies for this and to assure you that based on your feedback we have taken some additional measures to ensure parent preferences are more clearly highlighted and respected in future.

I understand you have spoken with our Clinical Nurse Manager Community Health and I am hoping she has reassured you and given you confidence in our intent to support our families when they attend Child Health appointments. I would be grateful if you would consider contacting me also so I can apologise in person. My name is Karen Street, I am the Director Population Health. I can be reached at 9956 1962 and your call would be very welcomed.

Regards

Karen Street
