I recently received support from the Breastfeeding Centre of WA at KEMH, which was incredible. I had been experiencing frequent bacterial mastitis for almost 6 months, which included multiple hospital admissions, visits with community lactation support, and specialist visits, which had led to little resolution and support about how to proceed moving forward, or how to manage/prevent mastitis. Nobody was able to provide much guidance, and I was struggling to manage and cope, plus care for my baby.
One of my friends in my mother's group recommended booking an appointment with the breastfeeding centre, and it was literally life-changing. From the first phone call I received (which was while I was in the emergency room), to the lactation consultant visits in person, to follow-up phone calls, I received so much support. The team was kind, helpful, supportive and non-judgmental. I genuinely do not know what I would have done without them. I am now in a position where I can keep mastitis at bay, and I feel the most healthy and happy I have felt since my son was born. I have nothing but incredible admiration and gratitude for the team at the Breastfeeding Centre of WA.
