"Great service"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I recently went to Chinatown Pharmacy in Broome asking for some ointment for what I thought was a minor skin issue. Pharmacist Mo advised me that my issue was different and much more serious than I thought, and said I needed to see a Doctor that day. I was subsequently turned away from the Broome urgent care clinic as I am a Kiwi and do not have a Medicare card and I tried without success to get a doctors appointment for that day.

Panicking a little I walked in to A & E at Broome Hospital. The reception lady, nurse who did my initial consult, nurse who took my temp and blood pressure etc, and Dr John (first name) who saw me were all brilliant, and I can't thank them all enough. Huge should out to all of them, along with Pharmacist Mo and the team at Chinatown Pharmacy.

What two great teams of people Broome have there! Thank you to you all.

Dear Relieved Kiwi,

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s reassuring to hear that the team at Broome Hospital A&E provided clear, efficient care during a challenging situation. From reception through to the nursing staff and Dr John, it sounds like each step of the process was handled with professionalism and attention to detail. Your feedback highlights the consistent standard of care delivered by the team and reflects well on the service they provide to the community. They will appreciate knowing their work made a positive difference.

Kind regards,

Dear Relieved Kiwi,

Thank you again for taking the time to share your kind feedback about your experience in the Broome Hospital Emergency Department and the support you received from Dr John, our nursing team and reception staff, as well as the team at Chinatown Pharmacy.

Your story highlights the positive impact that compassionate and timely care can have for members of our community, and we would love the opportunity to share your experience more broadly to recognise the staff involved and promote the excellent care provided in Broome.

If you would be comfortable with this, could you please contact me at james.sherriff@health.wa.gov.au and I can provide you with more information. We would also be interested in discussing the possibility of an intranet article, website story and social media post, and whether you would be willing to share some additional details and a photograph to support the story. Any participation would of course be entirely voluntary.

Thank you once again for your thoughtful feedback and for recognising the teams who cared for you.

Warm regards,

James Sherriff
District Director, West Kimberley
