"Mother Baby Nurture"

About: Mother-Baby Nurture

(as a service user),

I did a 10 week Mother Baby Nurture group after the traumatic pregnancy and birth of my son.

It was 2 hour ish session once a week, starting when my son was 2 months and for those 10 weeks it was the only time I left the house.

I had a very colicky and sensitive baby and found it extremely hard to leave the house with him because he would have these episodes of screaming and sometimes purple crying, nothing could calm him down. After taking him to doctors and being told I was an anxious mother or he was just bored or a "high cryer", I knew there was something going on, I knew he was in pain but no one would listen to me. Mica saw one of these episodes at one of the sessions and referred us to the paediatrician who then finally diagnosed him.

Now with my son just about to turn 2 and looking back on those early days, I truly believe the MBN Group saved my life. It brought me together with other mothers who had been through similar experiences to mine and made me not feel alone. It helped me to look at life a lot differently to how I had been and pushed me into starting therapy for myself, in turn saving my family.

I cannot thank Mica and Ally enough, I believe you are saving lives with your work.

Dear Mama0712

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We are grateful to hear that the Mother Baby Nurture Group offered support during such a challenging time. The early months of parenthood can be incredibly difficult, particularly following a traumatic pregnancy and birth experience, and it is encouraging to know that the group provided a safe and supportive space where you felt understood.

Your persistence in seeking answers is admirable, and we are pleased that the support and referral you received helped lead to the diagnosis and care he needed.

Feedback like yours reinforces the value of connection and early support. We will pass your kind words on to Mica and Ally. They will appreciate knowing the difference their work made for your family.

Thank you again for sharing your journey. We wish you and your son all the very best as he celebrates turning two.

Kind regards,

Michelle Carrington
