"A colonoscopy"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Surgical Services

(as the patient),

On June 16th I attended Busselton hospital for the above procedure.

I arrived at 7am and entered a holding area around 7-30am. Everything was well organised and staff were around at all times should I have needed them. I saw my anaesthetist prior to surgery who checked my heart. After checking my health record they realised I was OK to have the procedure.

At all times all staff were friendly and helpful. After leaving recovery I waited longer than I expected in bed in another waiting area. I understand my blood pressure needed to fall further and a doctor ( Trent ) told me I should have an echo cardiogram to which he would send a referral.

Before leaving, Drew, gave me all the details about what I should do if I became unwell after leaving the hospital and what I should drink to replace some of the compounds I had lost while preparing for the procedure. Over the years I have had a few sigmoidoscopes and colonoscopies and Drew has always been so knowledgeable and given excellent service.

Dear delphinusrc37,

Thank you for sharing your experience following your visit to Busselton Health Campus

It’s really great to hear that you found everything well organised from the moment you arrived, and that staff were available and supportive throughout your time in the holding area. I’m also pleased that the anaesthetist took the time to review your history carefully and ensure everything was safe to go ahead.

We very much appreciate your kind comments about our team – it means a lot to hear that you felt cared for and supported. I’ll be sure to pass your feedback on.

I’m sorry to hear that you experienced a longer wait than expected after recovery. We understand that can be frustrating, but I’m glad this was explained to you and that your blood pressure was monitored appropriately. It’s also reassuring that Trent discussed the need for a follow-up echocardiogram and arranged a referral for you.

A special thank you for recognising Drew. It’s always lovely to hear when staff make a lasting impression, and your comments about his knowledge and consistent support over the years will mean a great deal to him.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. It’s really valued and helps us continue to provide the best care possible.

Kind regards,

Gemma Moyes
