"Visit to Sydney Eye Hospital Emergency Dept"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

After experiencing an unusual eye problem this afternoon, a doctor friend encouraged to go to Sydney eye hospital to make sure it was not an indication of something more serious.

From my arrival at the hospital it was clear the department was very busy attending to some high category patients with lots of others waiting to be seen. Despite this, the admin clerk, the triage nurse Georgia, the ward nurse Grady and doctor Mark and the eye doctor I saw were all very considerate and respectful and they took care to listen to me and to explain what they were investigating, what they needed to do, what I should expect to happen next. After his initial assessment, Mark even shared an estimated timeframe of when I might be able to go home after the tests and he was almost exactly right.

I could see that the team were really busy,( one of the doctors said it was the busiest night he had known all year) but Grady and Mark took time to check in with me, regularly give me updates on my care and they made me feel like I was as important to them as all the more urgent care patients.

I wanted to say a big thank you to the team and to acknowledge the excellent healthcare I experienced.

Dear hotelhd49,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit to our Emergency Department.

As you saw that evening, our teams are often stretched to look after every patients with equal attention and compassion.

A story like yours is what keeps us going, and we'll pass on your appreciations to the admin clerk, triage nurse Georgia, ward nurse Grady, Dr Mark and the eye doctor who looked after you.

It means a great deal to hear that even on one of the busiest nights of the year, they made time to check in with you, keep you updated and explain each step clearly.

Thank you again for taking the time to acknowledge the care you received.
