About: Albany Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I'm very appalled to past feedback on after my spouse's recent experience with the Albany Regional Hospital,

They presented themselves twice for chest pain, shortness of breath, uncomfortable pain in their calf, dizziness, fatigue, only to be meet with the same Dr both times advising my spouse *you're right mate, just fatigue/stress* both times I believe my spouse was met with little care.

The front desk staff were amazing & pasted my spouse through promptly but the Dr dismissed their symptoms & sent them home without monitoring or correct testing. 24hours after my spouse's hospital visit we sort another  medical adviser and they were immediately sent through to Perth & had a 90% blockage to their LAD. I believe my spouse could of died if they had followed the relaxed advice of the Dr saying * head home, have some sleep & try to not stress, your just tired.

This service was no good enough, in my opinion

Dear Pauwc85

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns about the care your spouse received when they presented to Albany Health Campus Emergency Department (ED) on two occasions with chest pain. Please accept our sincere apology for the distress that this experience has caused for you both.

We take all concerns about patient care seriously and acknowledge your concerns regarding the medical assessment and care provided during your spouse's presentations. In order to better understand what occurred during your spouse’s ED attendances, we would like to carry out a comprehensive review of their care.

Can you please contact Kate Hambleton, Lower Great Southern District Director, on 9892 2325. This will help us to initiate the review process and identify areas to learn from.

I hope your spouse is now receiving the medical care that they require.

Kate Hambleton
