"Amazing care in ED and MFAU throughout pregnancy"

(as the patient),

I had severe HG during my pregnancy and felt very well cared for by ED and MFAU midwives and doctors. I was treated with empathy and noticed an improvement in staff knowledge about HG since my last HG pregnancy in 2024. I’m very grateful that I was given responsive care, and whilst staff are often busy, still remain a priority.

Dear HGmum,

Thank you for taking the time to share your gratitude for the care you received during your visits to the Emergency Centre (EC) and Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit (MFAU) during your pregnancy.

Dealing with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during pregnancy can take not only a physical toll on the body but also effect a patient’s mental health so I was pleased to read that during your visits to King Edward Memorial Hospital you were treated with compassion and empathy during a difficult time. Here at the Women and Newborn Health Service we are always looking to improve the care we provide and ensure it is up to date with the most relevant information available so it was also wonderful to read of the improvement in staff knowledge since your previous HG pregnancy.

I will pass on your feedback to the management of EC and MFAU who I am sure will be pleased to read your kind words.
