"HITH at SCGH in Perth"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Hospital in the Home Service (HITH)

(as a service user),

After an admission via ED for a painful allergic reaction I was cared for very well on the ward for a few days. I was then transferred to Home Care which continued to look after me, addressing all my worries and concerns and pain management from my own home. I was really blown away with the incredible level of care. Visits and phone calls from dr, daily nurse visits when medication reviews, observations and blood tests were conducted. The peace of mind that I was still actually an in patient so if my condition had escalated I could have been readmitted to a ward if needed really helped me onto my road to recovery. After a week of home care I was discharged from the service but only after the dr felt I was comfortable. I now have a follow-up outpatient clinic appointment to discuss my condition with the consultant team. I was a little sceptical but HITH was a very positive experience. Thanks to Dr Jane and the team!!

Dear ariesbs36,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

I am pleased to hear that you felt so well supported throughout both your hospital admission and subsequent care through our Hospital in the Home (HITH) service. Recovering from a serious allergic reaction can be challenging so it is wonderful to know that the care, communication and reassurance provided by the team helped you feel safe and supported during your recovery.

Our HITH service is designed to deliver hospital-level care in the comfort of a patient's home. It is rewarding to hear that the regular visits, phone calls and personalised approach gave you confidence and peace of mind throughout your treatment. I will be delighted to share your feedback with Dr Jane and the wider HiTH team. Recognition such as yours means a great deal to our staff and reinforces the important work they do every day to provide compassionate, patient-centred care.

Thank you again for sharing your positive experience.

We wish you all the very best with your continued recovery.

Warm regards,

Renee de Prazer
