My daughter suffers from possible endemetriosis and had a cyst on her ovary, which the GP suspected might have ruptured and instructed us to proceed to the ED for assistance. We were waiting on our referral to another hospital but the pain was excruciating and she needed help asap. The nurse we met first was very kind and helpful. We then very patiently waited to be called. 6 hours later my daughter was dizzy and nauseous with pain. I tried to ask for pain meds but all the staff avoided eye contact and was too busy. I then gave my child one of my pain tablets I had with me. Another 2 hours past before she was given oxy for pain which she vomitted out. Was given another 4 different pills for pain and nausea. Just to be told we will have to wait another 8 hours on top of the 8 we had already waited. We walked out.
I ended up arranging for her to be taken to another hospital early the next day for help.
The amount of elderly folks that was sitting there longer than us were only provided with sandwiches around 9pm, nothing to drink. When they asked how much longer they were met with abrupt responses from the nurses.
Another patient clearly needed psychiatric help ended up banging their head excessively hard against the wall outside the ED that everyone could hear it and feel the vibrations. No one went to help. Security spoke to them and many nurses gathered behind the glass partitions looking at the scene and talking about this patient. Instead of providing help.
In my opinion, the service is absolutely disgusting and I will no longer make use of your ED.
