"Life at Shanty Creek"

About: Shanty Creek Residential Rehabilitation Facility

(as a service user),

First couple weeks were rough, i felt i needed to leave but i pushed through that knowing being here would be best. from that point i started listening to programs and wrote down notes. i began to get closer to a fellow resident and started to open up more about why i used so much, which helped me get past it. i than continue staying at shanty for 4 months and now believe that i am ready for the outside world

Dear maymd68,

Well done on 'pushing through' the first couple of weeks. It's often the most difficult time, where adjustments to a new environment, people and a new way challenges human behaviour.

It's encouraging to read you then invested yourself in the program by taking notes and learning what was on offer to better yourself for the future.

Four months is a great achievement. Congratulate yourself and take all the tools you learnt into the outside world when you finally get there.

All the best for a substance free future.

Regards,
LM
