I honestly don’t know where to begin because no words will ever truly do this team justice.
As a first-time mum, I was incredibly anxious about birth. My biggest fear was not knowing what labour would feel like, arriving at the Family Birthing Centre too late, or needing to be transferred to the hospital. Vicky spent my entire pregnancy helping me prepare, answering every question I had, and giving me the knowledge and confidence to trust my body. Looking back now, I realise just how much those conversations shaped my birth experience.
When I arrived at the Family Birthing Centre, I was 9 cm dilated. I had gone into labour thinking I wanted a water birth, then later as you do I overthought the process and if I even wanted that but as soon as Vicky examined me she immediately ran the birth pool and I am SO grateful she did - the relief I felt was insane. Two hours later, I welcomed my beautiful daughter into the world exactly where I was meant to be.
My birth was everything I had hoped for and more. I had no complications, no interventions, and only used a little gas for pain relief. Claire was by my side throughout labour, encouraging me, supporting me and even feeding me fruit between contractions. I felt so safe, so respected and so genuinely cared for. The environment was calm, empowering and full of kindness.
Like so many women, I was scared of birth. I worried about tearing, the pain, and everything that could go wrong. Instead, I experienced the most empowering, incredible day of my life. Once the initial shock wore off, I genuinely remember saying I wanted to do it all over again and still I just want to do it a million times over!
I truly believe I could not have had the birth I did without Vicky and Claire. Their guidance, reassurance and belief in me gave me the confidence to believe in myself. They didn’t just help me birth my daughter - they completely changed the way I see birth.
The care didn’t stop once my daughter was born either. The love, support and compassion continued into the postpartum period, and every midwife I met as part of the MGP3 team that came to my home for the first 5 days made me feel so valued, heard and cared for.
I cannot recommend the Family Birthing Centre and the MGP3 team highly enough. The continuity of care, the environment, the support and the genuine love they pour into every family is something truly special. I honestly don’t believe this level of care can be found anywhere else.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to Vicky, Claire and every single member of MGP3 for giving me the most positive, empowering first birth experience I could have ever imagined. I will be forever grateful, and I sincerely hope I have the privilege of bringing my future babies into the world with this incredible team beside me again.
I truely cannot thank you all enough❤️
